Warm Up Your Holidays With a Hot Meal at These 4 Coralville Restaurants

|

One of the best things about winter is getting all cozy – and a hearty, delicious hot meal is just what you need to warm you from the inside! A good meal followed up with a nice, long nap, is an important ingredient in what might just be a perfect winter day. Sound like something you could get into? Check out our guide to the best hot meals near LATITUDE at River Landing in Coralville and Iowa City.

Monica’s

Monica’s has a vast menu of cuisines to choose from, including Cajun, German, and American offerings, but nothing sticks to your ribs quite like Italian food. Our go-to at Monica’s is the Chicken Parmesan. Think breaded and fried chicken topped in a savory tomato sauce and gooey melted mozzarella, served atop steaming hot pasta tossed in delicious alfredo sauce. It’s got a little bit of everything!

303 Second Street, Coralville

Hamburg Inn No. 2

When it comes to hearty, hot breakfasts, you can’t go wrong with this Iowa City mainstay. In their words, “your Mama’s cooking will always be No.1,” but the Hamburg Inn No. 2 menu is the next best thing. For something that will stick with you all day and give you that little extra push into nap time, go with the Hawkeye Hog. Sausage and hash browns smothered in gravy – your coffee won’t stand a fighting chance. Especially if you chase it down with one of the Burg’s World Famous Pie Shakes.

Dumpling Darling

You can never go wrong with dumplings! Dumpling Darling serves up all the classics, including tasty soup dumplings which, if you’ve never had them, are truly something special (literally a dumpling filled with soup). Our go-to for heavy dumpling comfort is the Potato Pierogies. This classic Central and Eastern European pocket food consists of mashed potatoes, caramelized onions, and ricotta cheese wrapped in dough and then pan fried, served with a dollop of delicious sour cream. It’s like a hot potato, dumpling, and latke all in one! Maybe finish your order off with a side of Fried Brussels Sprouts, just so you get all the food groups.

213 Iowa Avenue, Iowa City

Iowa River Power Restaurant

When money’s no object, don’t miss the famous Prime Rib at Iowa River Power Restaurant. Served in a cozy, eclectic setting and accompanied by a huge twice-baked potato with all the fixin’s, this giant slab of perfectly cooked beef is just what the doctor ordered. Trust us, you’ll be ready for a nap when you’re done with this meal! Iowa River Power Restaurant doesn’t serve prime rib every night though, so check ahead before you visit. Or try one of their other amazing dishes – you really can’t go wrong here. They have a variety of steaks to choose from, as well as seafood options like stuffed shrimp and lobster tail, and a number of pasta dishes.
